Another day. Another year. This day used to mark merely another year survived. One year closer to death. Another day just like any other, with added disappointment of being unnoticed—Not today. Today marks a change both in the past year and in the time coming. In the last year of life, I discovered value that was obscured from me for years. I found that in Christ, I am enough—an irreplaceable and priceless gift. So many people have entered my life and given me community I only dreamed of previously. By Your grace, I am free.
So while this is a celebration of another year of life, it is more a celebration of identity for me. It is a celebration of all the people’s lives I have touched by Your influence in my life. It is not a count of how many people reach out to me for bragging rights, but gratitude for every person who has been influenced enough to willingly take the opportunity this day provides to express love for me. It is an opportunity to count my blessings and reflect on how You have changed so much for the better.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” ~ John 10:10
